Pray for the Persecuted Church

Hebrews 13:3 Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.

Sunday was the National Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. In a country where we rarely experience religious persecution, it is easy to forget our brethren in other countries suffering terrible mistreatment for the sake of the Gospel. But we are called to “remember” and not forget. They are a part of our body. As such, we should intervene with fervent prayer on their behalf as if they were a part of physical body. If they literally were, we could not forget them! Can we ignore a painful limb, an aching head or groaning guts? Would we not deliberately and immediately seek a remedy for our personal discomfort? In the same manner, we should remember and no longer ignore our brothers and sisters in the mission field who are even now being persecuted for their faith in Jesus. We should be in agony for them, praying for them earnestly, in deep intercession crying out for their deliverance, for the power of the Holy Spirit to fill them and to comfort them, empowering them to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Every day around the world there are Christian souls ready to die for the Gospel. Their unwavering faith and deep seeded resolve to share the Gospel is a testimony of God’s great power and divine providence! Under fierce and deadly opposition, with joyful confidence in our Great God and the hope of their eternal reward; without fear or hesitation, they remain wholly and solely committed to sharing Gospel, even while under the threat of severe punishment and death.

Are we willing to do the same?

Pray today and ever day for the persecuted church around the world. Pray for their protection, for miraculous provisions, and for deliverance. In their suffering, pray they are strengthened and comforted. Pray for revival in our own hearts and in the hearts of our countrymen. Pray for a world-wide awakening; for deaf ears to be opened and blind eyes to see. Pray for a sense of urgency to share the Gospel as the end of this age draws eminently near. There is no time to waste!

Mark 16:15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”

About athenammorris

Wife, mother, step-mother, and grandmother. I first came to the Lord in 1986. However, I backslid for a few years and rededicated my life to the Lord in 1990. Since then, my road through sanctification has been long and hard; mostly the result of my own rebellion. However in 2011, I finally I completely surrendered to His will and not my own and began to experience spiritual growth. My hope for this blog; people will be encouraged in their daily walk with the Lord. I'm a normal-joe-Christian just like every other Christian; struggling with the flesh, enduring trials, living life all with the intent of glorify and pleasing God. View all posts by athenammorris
