1 Timothy 6:15 …which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords…
As a citizen of a country where the spirit of democracy is founded, I feel privileged. Here we have the right to vote into power leaders who represent our ideas, implement our laws and establish military stability to guard our way of life thereby perpetuating our freedom sustaining peace, prosperity, and the pursuit of “happiness.” Our leaders are appointed by “we the people.” But when these leaders are in office we are frustrated with their obvious lack of humility and fallibility. The direction they lead our country in is often damaging, effecting people – not just policy, with lasting repercussions from generation to generation.
But we are citizens of a greater Kingdom. Our ruler is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He needs no one’s permission to rule. He represents no one’s ideas or philosophies. He is perfect in every way. His kingdom has no boundaries and his armies are endless. He possesses all authority, all power and all might. There is no other King like Him, no not one. HE alone decides the course! HE alone rules our rulers! His ways are perfect! ALL power and authority are subject to Him. We are under His protection: a loving King, holy, righteous and all powerful. His thoughts for us are for our good and His love for us endless. We safely rest in Him. While theologians argue sovereign will and appointed grace, we simply obey our Sovereign King and ascribe Him all praise and worship with glad hearts.
As we continue to exercise our right to influence our government, charging our leaders with the authority to rule over our people (in spite of the grievous direction they move our country), may we commit our way to Our King Jesus! May we conduct ourselves as citizens of His great Kingdom with our hearts wholly surrendered to His reign. Let us not forget to be in constant prayer for our earthy leaders, holding them up and accountable to our Almighty God. Let us remember to put our complete trust solely in our True Ruler – our Sovereign King who rules over ALL.
1 Timothy 6:15–16 which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.
