Hebrews 1:12 “…But you are the same, and your years will have no end.”

Technology, economy, and our environment are in a constant state of flux; none of it remains the same. From the macro view of the world to the micro scrutiny of our inward state, with each passing second not one thing is left in the same condition it was the moment before. Rulers reign and then they fall. Factions dominate and are then defeated. Forests grow then burn into oblivion. Commitments of peace turn to war. Declarations of war end in peace. In this world man can be assured; nothing lasts. While we exhaust our resources trying to establish security in this world, it is all for nigh.  Our efforts end quickly with change and result miserably in discouragement.

We were created with a longing for eternity. But that longing was never meant to be satisfied with anything this world has to offer. The insatiable need for security, stability, and reliability is meant only to be fulfilled by One: the immutable, unchanging, Almighty GOD. In Jesus, the Son of God, we have His permanent promise of eternal life with Him – to those who believe. And if we call ourselves believers, our hope is not in this world but in the solid, immoveable, unchanging Lord of the heavens and the earth. Our security is not set on the temporal pleasures of this world and our sorrow is not cemented in despair by passing trials or tribulation. No, our hope is bent on eternity where our treasure is secure and where no tear is shed or sorrow bore. It is everlasting and it is ours as His heirs, His children in Christ Jesus.

Let us remember always to set our hearts and our minds upon our eternity. Let us continue on in this temporal world with our eyes fixed upon the steadfast promise of Heaven living a life worthy of our citizenship, giving Him all praise, worship and glory!

Hebrews 12:28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe

About athenammorris

Wife, mother, step-mother, and grandmother. I first came to the Lord in 1986. However, I backslid for a few years and rededicated my life to the Lord in 1990. Since then, my road through sanctification has been long and hard; mostly the result of my own rebellion. However in 2011, I finally I completely surrendered to His will and not my own and began to experience spiritual growth. My hope for this blog; people will be encouraged in their daily walk with the Lord. I'm a normal-joe-Christian just like every other Christian; struggling with the flesh, enduring trials, living life all with the intent of glorify and pleasing God. View all posts by athenammorris
