2 Corinthians 4:4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
There is a very real battle going on; yes, even at this very moment. A spiritual battle for mankind is happening which we must always be aware. The enemy of God is in constant pursuit of destroying God’s most precious creation; men and women. His attack is subtle, disguised as comfort, wealth, prestige and even goodness. It is clouded by inconsequential delay and masked by indifference. Relaxation and acceptance of all kinds of debauchery acclaiming peace and harmony lull mankind into philosophical oblivion, unaware of the eternal end it will bring. Even children are caught in the masquerade; movies, cartoons, and costumes make the devil and his hosts of demons seem harmless, fun and exciting. But this is all a lie to blind the world of his intent – to destroy mankind and drive them into eternal darkness.
As believers, we are not immune to his deceit. If we are not careful to be on guard we may be lured away from our devotion to God. He will use cunning trickery to deceive us into believing the lie instead of truth. If there be one area of sin we have not confessed or a weakness we have not committed to the Lord, our enemy will use it for our destruction. Let us not be deceived, the battle is not only for the unbeliever, but for the believer – to cripple us and make ineffective for the furtherance of the Gospel.
Praise God the battle has been already won! Jesus’ death and resurrection not only thwarted the enemy’s plans, but utterly destroyed them “putting them to open shame.” We fight against the rulers and authorities of the demonic world from the position of VICTORY – HIS victory! Therefore, let us all remember to put on our spiritual armor, pressing forward against the enemy of God and our souls with fervent prayer, devotion to His word, open declaration of His goodness, magnificence and majesty in worship, never forgetting it is HE who goes before us. Let us not put down our guard for even a moment, being vigilant as good soldiers in His spiritual army.
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
