By prayer

Mark 9:29 And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.”

While Jesus walked the face of the earth, satanic forces reacted vehemently in opposition.  The spiritual realm was clearly apparent whenever the demon-possessed were found in His presence. They recognized the Son of Man and His authority immediately, even though mankind did not. They cringed in fear, cried out in terror, and immediately departed when commanded. He is Almighty God and they are powerless in His presence!  But when the disciples tried to cast out the demon from the possessed boy, they could not.  Perhaps they relied on their own abilities having been lulled into a false sense of accomplishment.  They were Jesus’ disciples after all! Whatever they were doing, they failed to humble themselves and pray for divine power to cast out the demon.  Jesus reminds them; they are but men, but by the power of Heaven through prayer they would win spiritual battles.

Jesus’ reminder to the disciples is just as relevant to us today as it was then. The spiritual battle rages on. But Satan would have us believe there is no battle today, so there is no need to pray.  Even when you set your heart and mind into the action of prayer, he will do anything to keep you off of your knees. The phone will ring. The plumbing in your house will fail. The baby will cry. You’re suddenly exhausted and fall asleep. Satan knows once your prayers are lifted up to the throne room of God, he is done for!  The host of HEAVEN is deployed! The power of JESUS CHRIST ignites! He is utterly destroyed!

Where ever you are at this moment, stop and pray. Lift the voice of your soul to heaven and ask for forgiveness, deliverance from temptation, salvation for the lost, healing for the sick, and revival for the church! If you don’t’ know what to pray, don’t worry. The Holy Spirit will intercede for you (Rom 26:6) Don’t wait! (Eph 6:18) Don’t stop! (Luk 18:1-8) Watch and see what God will do, not just in answer to your prayer, but also in your heart. (Ps 145:18-19) You will find your faith increasing as you boldly intercede! (1John 3:21-22)

James 5:16b The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

About athenammorris

Wife, mother, step-mother, and grandmother. I first came to the Lord in 1986. However, I backslid for a few years and rededicated my life to the Lord in 1990. Since then, my road through sanctification has been long and hard; mostly the result of my own rebellion. However in 2011, I finally I completely surrendered to His will and not my own and began to experience spiritual growth. My hope for this blog; people will be encouraged in their daily walk with the Lord. I'm a normal-joe-Christian just like every other Christian; struggling with the flesh, enduring trials, living life all with the intent of glorify and pleasing God. View all posts by athenammorris
